BURN Manufacturing USA LLC, an international designer and manufacturer of high efficiency biomass, LPG, and electrical cookstoves based in Nairobi, Kenya, has been awarded the ISO 9001:2015 certification for its implementation of the internationally recognized quality management system.

As the world’s most recognized quality management system certification, ISO 9001:2015 demonstrates BURN Manufacturing’s commitment to consistently providing high-quality products and continually improving its design, manufacturing, and distribution processes to enhance customer satisfaction.

This certification, awarded by the world’s leading certification company, SGS United Kingdom Ltd, follows a 12-month assessment of its business processes across all its core departments. BURN Manufacturing now joins over one million companies and organizations across 170 countries certified by the International Standards Organization (ISO).

CEO Peter Scott expressed delight concerning the certification, stating, “As BURN moves to expand into 10 new markets across east and west Africa, this certification provides our consumers with another reason to believe that our cook stoves are designed and produced to the highest international quality standards.”

With more than 400 employees across Africa, 50% of whom are women, BURN is the only vertically integrated modern solar-powered cookstove facility in sub-Saharan Africa. Its stoves have positively impacted the lives of more than 8 million people, saving over 5.8 million tons of wood and significantly reducing carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions while helping users save over $400 million in household fuel costs.

BURN has operations in seven African countries and plans to expand to three new markets this year. Its stoves, such as the Jikokoa (charcoal cooking stove) and Ecoa wood (firewood cooking stove), are available in local retail outlets, including general shops in Kenya, and through various distribution partners and outlets across Africa.
